East Devon is one of the most beautiful places in the UK. That’s why I am determined that we protect our environment.
Part of protecting our environment is ensuring that we have the right regulations in the country to stop us from imported diseases that could severely damage our flora.
Equally, the Government has done much to protect the environment. The Government’s 25 year Environmental Strategy laid out how the UK will take action on a number of fronts, which will achieve, amongst other things, cleaner air, thriving plants and wildlife and enhancing the beauty of our natural environment.

One change that we can make in our lives is to reduce our use of single-use plastics, such as plastic knives, forks and water bottles. Earlier this year, I signed up to support Sky’s Ocean Rescue Campaign against plastic waste. Single-use plastics are extremely dangerous, not only for our natural environment, but also for wildlife that can ingest plastic bags and then die. It is something that we should all do more to prevent and I am therefore calling on everyone in East Devon to do what they can to lower the amount of plastics that they use.
