The Chief Executive of the Environment Agency (EA), Sir James Bevan, visited East Devon on Friday 14 October after local MP Sir Hugo Swire invited him to the constituency.

Swire: bite the bullet and dual A303

East Devon MP Sir Hugo Swire has called for the stretch of the A303/A30 between Honiton and Ilminster to become fully dualled.

In their South West Manifesto, the Conservatives pledged to invest £2 billion in the A303 meaning that much of the road is due to become dualled.

Local MP visits 'great' Budleigh primary school

Local MP Sir Hugo Swire paid a visit to St Peter’s School in Budleigh Salterton on Monday 19 September.

Sir Hugo was given a tour of the school by Headteacher, Steve Hitchcock, who showed the MP some of the school’s new facilities such as the swimming pool building and classroom block.

MP expresses ‘grave concerns’ over planned GP services cut

East Devon’s MP, Sir Hugo Swire, has hit out at ‘short-sighted’ plans to close Exmouth’s out-of-hours GP service. 

Under the current proposals, the town will lose its out-of-hours service in October meaning that residents would have to travel to either Honiton or Exeter.

Local MP talks politics with Sheridan House residents

East Devon MP, Hugo Swire, visited Sheridan House whilst he was in Exmouth on Wednesday 31 August.

Sir Hugo was invited to visit by the home’s Activities Coordinator, Dawn Laver, who regularly holds political discussion events with the residents.
