East Devon's MP Sir Hugo Swire met the RSPB in Parliament to talk about urgent action needed to address the use of nets by developers to prevent birds from nesting in trees and hedgerows.
There is major parliamentary debate in Westminster Hall scheduled for Monday 13 May 2019. The debate follows a petition of 300,000 signatures which is over the threshold required for a debate in Parliament's second chamber.
Hugo will ask Ministers how the Government intends to stop the practice. Possible solutions might include updated guidance - signed by the major housebuilders - preventing the use of nets during breeding season, short of blanket legislative or regulatory change.
