Hugo presses Ministers to take action on the illegal seahorse trade

East Devon's MP Sir Hugo Swire today pressed Environment Ministers to take action on the illegal seahorse trade, following a meeting with the Secretary of State Michael Gove and Chief Executive of the Seahorse Trust Neil Garrick-Maidment.

In Environment, Food and Rural Affairs questions in Parliament, Sir Hugo highlighted that over 150 million seahorses are traded each year for the curio, aquarium and medicinal trades.

In February, Sir Hugo was appointed Patron of The Seahorse Trust, the leading seahorse conservation charity, based in Topsham.
