East Devon's local MP, Sir Hugo Swire, has taken the issue of biosecurity to Parliament today (Wednesday 27th June 2018).
Speaking in the debate, which was called and led by Hugo, the local MP called for action to combat the diseases in the UK's flora. Hugo praised the appointment of both the Chief Plant Officer and the new Government Tree Champion, which was announced in June 2018. Hugo also praised the Government on it's actions, but said that there was plenty more to do to ensure that our countryside is not decimated by imported diseases.
The full speech can be watched above and can be read on Parliament's Hansard website.
