Hugo Swire Calls on Better Local Housing in Planning Debate

East Devon MP, Sir Hugo Swire, spoke in the Neighbourhood and Town Planning Debate in Westminster Hall on Monday 30th January 2018.

In the debate, Hugo spoke about the importance of ensuring that local communities will be pleased if new housing is built in the vernacular and local shops and post offices are supported.

Hugo also blasted large developers who are only concerned about profit margins and are not worried about whether a house looks the same in the north of England, the middle of England or in the South West - against the wishes of local residents in our communities.

Concluding, Hugo called on the Minister to respond to a letter that he sent to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, asking why the Lympstone Neighbourhood Plan has not been properly implemented, despite a local referendum on the issue two years ago.
