More than 4,000 people sign Devon schoolgirl's petition for fairer school funding

With a new Prime Minister coming through the doors of Number 10, there has been a lot of talk about primary and secondary school funding.

Each child in a Devon school still receives £304 less than the national average, meaning that Devon misses out on £27 million per year.

Last week I was contacted by Vicki Trebble-Sargent from Ottery St Mary to make me aware of this petition set up by her daughter, alongside its associated The Devon Campaign. I urge you to read more about this in the linked article:

The f40 group represents the 40 worst funded local education authorities in England. I co-signed their letter to the Chancellor for fairer school funding. I recently met East Devon headteachers to discuss funding issues and then spoke to then Education Secretary Damian Hinds about this. I sincerely hope we can have a good news announcement in due course.
